The next tenant has been decided. (For past episodes, read ‘Serendipity’ and ‘Two Israeli men’ in ‘People’) The two Israeli men backed out, giving way to a fierce competition between 6 other applicants. One man won; we will be handing over our apartment to him at the end of August.

When he came to view our apartment, he didn’t seem to want to leave. In our conversation, he mentioned that his former boss who passed away a few years back used to live in this same building. He said she was a very nice old lady; and if by chance ours was the room she lived in, then he would be delighted by the good karma. We laughed.

Today there was a mail addressed to our place, whose name I did not recognize. “One of the older tenants?” I supposed. I gave the mail to the door man, he looked at it and said “oh, she was a very nice old lady. She passed away several years back.”

There’s something about this apartment. (Come to think of it, Tyler went on the Amazing Race and won, soon after we moved here).
