Life theatre
Buses carry loads of strangers to and fro. Without intention, those strangers take part in an art I like to call ‘life theatre’.
Today, as interesting as it was with the mix of ethnicities and loud voices, a big, fat man came on smelling like a large haystack worth of burning ganja.
He climbed the three steps slowly. He browsed our faces with a steady grin. Then with an awesome high pitched voice, sung “too high~ can’t get over it” and continued “too low~ can’t go under it” with a deep tenor voice that resonated well in tune with the bus engine.
Six hours later, his voice is still singing in my head.

I think William Shakespeare put it best.
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.”
Yes, Skakespeare knew what he was talking about. Life is a wonderful, exuberant theatre and your experiences show it well!
March 18th, 2007 at 7:12 amI love all the little snippets of life you get to see, for FREE, in the city. I’ve been on a few movie sets where millions of dollars are spent to make hundreds of extras appear as normal people walking down the street. Now I like to imagine that everyone on the street has been fitted for their costume, and is being told by an assistant director to act the way there are. I look around for the camera, there is none. A big set, a really big set.
