Say I love you

Japanese people hardly ever say “I love you”, the translation entails a hot steam of embarassment and a slippery load of cheesy-ness.
For example, I’ve never said “I love you” to my parents. Except once when I was 5, to my dad when he found us a house. That was in England.
As a girl, I dreamt of my first kiss with a handsome prince on a horse. 4 […]

Something nice for the mind.

Good morning Monday

A flashback of an incident, laughed to myself at the dinner table.
Last Friday I went to see the parking lot security guard at our office building. “So you’re the new assistant? How long have you been working here?” he asked. “One and a half months” I answered, to which he made a very sour face. […]

Clothes on a line

Opened the window, let it all in.
A line of clothes hung down below.

I’d almost forgotten the scent of sun dried clothes.

Quotes from ‘A Thousand Clowns’

Went to see a play, A Thousand Clowns by Herb Gardner. Some unforgettable quotes:
“My sister and I keep in touch mainly through rumor.”
“Listen here all you rich people! Come out here and play volley ball!” (Shouted through a mega phone in down town Manhattan.)
“You are not a person. You are an experience!”
…………….
Theatre is so […]

Dream and a wish

Slept 11 hours yesterday, caught up with a hard schedule. Dreamt of watching a movie with my grandparents and my mother. My heart was chirping with excitement of being together, I could tell they were happy too. Nana (I called grandma ‘nana’) taught me piano, I could play effortlessly, it felt sensational. Granddad watched us and […]

Free consultants in hospitals

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were consultants in every hospital (that answered calls 24/7?) In taking care of any physical issue, a severe head ache for example, a person would simply consult a doctor (free of charge) to be directed to the right department.
This, along with beautifully painted ceilings, would make hospitals so much […]

Comfortable temperatures

Too hot? Too cold? Just right?
Here are examples of our average “just right” temperatures:
21C - 24C (70F - 74F) for the most comfortable room temperature.
12C - 17C (54F - 62F) for cool beverages.
32C - 40.5C (90F -105F) for soothing baths and showers.
The average range of temperature is 5.5C (9F). Surprisingly narrow! Except, our range […]

Chinese life cycles

There’s this Chinese girl with a small round face that ride on the same bus every morning. I glance over but pretend not to see her.
The Chinese believe it takes 9 life cycles (let me know if I’m wrong) to develop a relationship, until two people are born as family members, a couple, or as close friends. In the beginning […]
