Dubai

Dubai is a city in United Arab Emirates. This is what Dubai looked like in 1990. My cousin was born the same year.

This is Dubai in 2003. My cousin’s 1st year in middle school. Kinda looks like Tokyo.

This is what Dubai will look like around 2010. If she wishes, my cousin will be going to college then.
You can view here many of Dubai’s architectural majesty, including the tallest building in the making (Al Burj, which will be 3 times the Empire State Building), first underwater hotel (shown below),

world’s largest amusement park, world’s tallest hotel, largest artificial man made islands, largest indoor skiing facility, world’s largest shopping mall and if approved, world’s first Space Port.
I remember drawing space stations in elementary school art class as “your image of the future”. To be able to visit a city looking much like the paintings that decorated my 3rd grade class room wall is astonishing. (Click here for flight infos!)

There is now a slight chance that I will spend time in Dubai, much as I did in Tokyo in 2005 and Chile currently. I am excited! What a wonderful city!
March 30th, 2008 at 11:41 amDubai is a very fascinating city, Ayumi!
I remember when The Amazing Race visited the city in Season 5. That underwater hotel looks really cool, too!
March 30th, 2008 at 12:15 pmI love running into Kitty all over the web. What?! Dubai! Lucky.
My ex-boss is there now. He says it’s hot. Heh.
March 31st, 2008 at 12:42 amFunny Kitty and Harvey are friends. Small world. I wonder how much it’ll cost to stay in the underwater hotel? Definitely want to visit.
