Corn Starch Packing

“In Australia they use real popcorn instead of polystyrene packing” I heard from a grapevine.

What a simple and brilliant idea! I thought. Why, we can include a pack of salt, as an extra gift to fill the stomach!

I asked around, looked it up, bottom line wasn’t so bad.

Compared to polystyrene bubbles, real popcorn costs more, weighs more, is more flammable, and insects love to eat them. BUT, the idea was good enough to give rise to ‘corn starch based packing foams’ that dissolve in water!

    Neat idea, Ayumi!

It sure beats that styrofoam stuff they use now!

I would love to have popcorn delivered with all my packages. What if they wrapped the popcorn in thin plastic bags. I guess packing peanuts are pretty cheap but there would be some pretty satisfied customers… oh wait, just had a thought. I think that would drastically add to the obesity issue.

The corn starch packing things are just like cheetos without the cheesy stuff…they totally disintegrate when wet. Pretty cool.
